there used to be a big wheel here, and I think it was used to run cables under the ground, but I'm not an expert about how a mining site works, unfortunately ^^"

Ahhh I see, I didn't realise this was mining related. Judging by the angle of the ironwork I'd say it was for lifting and hoisting stuff into and out of the mine. This is a totally different style to the English equipment though.

The cables were connected to this [link] however (there is two huge wheels up here) if this can give you a better view of the installation
